The Magic Answer to "I Gotta' Go To The Bathroom!"

"I gotta' go to the bathroom!

If you serve in Children's Ministry, you've heard those words hundreds of times.  And it usually starts a chain reaction.  Suddenly you have a line of kids saying "I gotta' go to the bathroom."

Sometimes it's legit and sometimes it's not.  How can you tell the difference?

Years ago, someone taught me a little answer that helps you know the difference.  When a child asks to go to the bathroom and you suspect they may just want a change of scenery, then do this.  Ask them to wait for 5 minutes.  If they really have to go, they will come back to you.  If they don't, then they won't.

Try it.  It works.

Thsnks Dale, for your suggestion. I will let you know the difference.

Oh PLEASE don't tell children they can't go or need to wait to use the bathroom! You might as well just say, "I don't trust you or care about your comfort". I would suggest keeping your lessons and activities as fun and engaging as possible and your little ones won't need an excuse to miss a minute!
