Talk Now and Later: How to Lead Kids Through Life's Tough Topics (Book Giveaway)

There's a great new resource for parents and kidmin leaders.  It's a book entitled, "Talk Now and Later" and I believe it can be a game changer for you and the parents in your ministry.

The book was written by Brian Dollar.  Brian is a leading voice in children's ministry and has an incredible heart to help parents become the spiritual leaders God intended for them to be.

In the book, Brian shares insights that will help parents navigate conversations with their children about tough topics such as self-image, death, sex, divorce, bullying, tragedy, making wise choices, money and more.

Wet Cement vs. Hard Concrete

You've heard the statement, "kids are wet cement."  It is true.  Childhood is the most impressionable stage of a person's life.

Research shows that the first five years are particularly important in a child’s development with the first three years being the most critical.  Early experiences provide the base for development and functioning throughout life.  Children learn more quickly during their early years than at any other time in life.

Contrast that to concrete.  

It is set.  It is hard.  It is much more difficult to make an impression upon.  It takes A LOT more work, time, and effort.  And so it is with the concrete hearts of many adults.

Here's the bottom line.  There is only a short window of time before wet cement turns to concrete.  Churches must focus major time, energy, and resources into writing on the hearts of children.  

We must write God's way of salvation on the hearts of children.  85% of people who make a decision for Christ do so before the age of 18.  It is vital that we reach children with the Gospel.  Make sure you are sharing the plan of salvation with children on a regular basis.

We must write God's Word on the hearts of the children.  Most Scripture memory and Bible learning that people know comes from their childhood.

We must write God's wisdom on the hearts of children.  God's wisdom written on the heart of a child will help him/her make wise choices as he/she grows older.

I don't know about you...but I'd rather spend my time writing in wet cement than trying to bust up hardened concrete.
