10 Key to Seeing Kids Become Lifelong Followers of Jesus (session notes from Children's Pastor's Conference)

Last week I taught a session at Children's Pastor's Conference about "10 Keys to Seeing Kids Become Lifelong Followers of Jesus."

Here are the notes from the session if you'd like to access them.

Join Me at Children's Pastor's Conference in San Diego

Children's Pastor's Conference in San Diego is February 27 - March 1.  Under the leadership of the new Executive Director, Michael Chanley, there is a fresh move of God happening through CPC.

The CPC in Orlando was one of the best Children's Ministry conferences I have ever attended and I believe the San Diego CPC will be just as powerful.  Here is a highlight video.

If you are attending the conference in San Diego, I would be honored to meet you.  I am facilitating the church tour on Monday as well as two breakouts entitled...

Your First Five Years in Children’s Ministry: the Do’s and Don’ts
Get off to a great start in children’s ministry by learning from the mistakes, failures and successes of someone who has been there.

Children’s Ministry Leadership That Lasts: Go the Distance
Discover how to not only survive, but thrive in ministry for a lifetime.

There is great value in attending a conference like this.  It is an opportunity to grow, connect, be challenged, and be refreshed.  Hope to see you there.

Inside Notes from Children's Pastor's Conference Orlando Wednesday Night

Wednesday night was General Session #1. Here's some notes I took from the speakers...

Michael Chanley, Executive Director of INCM
  • Our five initiatives are meant to identify bright spots in the church worth replicating. They are a starting point for beginning to set an international standard for Children's Ministry. Working together, we can focus on key issues that will make a lasting impact. Commit today and help us set a new standard for Children's Ministry.
    • Impart God's truth to this generation
    • Provide a safe and relevant environment
    • Communicate with families
    • Network with a community of leaders
    • Pray for the international children's ministry community

Kyle Idleman, Teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville
  • What we win people with is what we win people to.
  • We must teach kids that a call to follow Jesus is a call to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him.

Phil Vischer, Creator of Veggie Tales and "What's in the Bible" Series
  • It's not the government's job to teach kids to love Jesus, it's ours.
  • We must get back to teaching the next generation the Word of God and addressing the tough questions they ask.
  • We've taught kids more about being patriotic than about following Christ.

I will be posting notes from the afternoon session with Reggie Joiner later this afternoon.
