Preschoolers' Mobile Video Consumption is Controlling App Charts

Recent studies show that preschoolers are inundated with mobile devices.  75% of kids under the age of 5 use mobile devices such as tablets.  This is a 46% increase since 2012.

What are preschoolers consuming on these devices?  Video content.  They are naturally drawn to video content and that's what's driving their usage.

3 of the top-grossing iPhone apps for kids under the age of 5 are video players.  Here's the list.

Top 5 grossing iPhone apps for kids ages five and under:
BabyFirst Videos
Sago Mini Babies

George Barna says, "In the race to a child's heart, the first one there wins."

If the church is going to win this race, then we must develop mobile video content that can capture the attention of preschoolers and plant God's Word in their hearts.

Do you know of apps that are currently available to teach preschoolers God's Word?  Share them with us in the comment section below.

Interesting, we have a friend, whom the Lord has blessed with wealth. He has hired a team down in Argentina to develop apps for him, which he then sells. He is asking us for ideas on apps for the church....he says his team charges a very reasonable amount of money (+-$500). He JUST NEEDS IDEAS!

Sarai, could you send me his contact info?

Yes Sir I will send that to you in an email.

We completely agree! My wife and I are the creators of Owlegories, a new gospel-centered animated series and app for kids ( We created a storybook app back in 2013 and now have an Owlegories TV app for both iOS and Android for our animated series. We are finishing up a memory verse app as well and our first DVD is out on the shelves nationwide (Walmart, Amazon, and all major Christian retailers). Our goal is to teach kids about God through His Creation. Our first three episodes are about the sun, the seed, and the water. The stories focus on a class of young owls as they go on adventures learning about nature, faith, and God. Check it out and let us know if you have any questions. Happy to send you a DVD or links to watch the episodes digitally. My email is thomas [at] owlegories {dot] com
