85% or 100% ?

I know. You want things done with excellence. And the only way that can be done is for you to do it all by yourself.

100% of you will make it 100% excellent, right?

Probably.  But there is a better way.

Ephesians 4 makes this clear.

"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to EQUIP God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ."

The Bible is clear about this.  Our job as a leader is to equip others to do the work of the ministry.

Often we are hesitant to hand off ministry responsibilities because we don't think it can be done as well as we can do it.

Think about this.  What has the potential to have the biggest impact?  You doing it at 100% or 3 people doing it at 85%?

It is better to equip 3 people to do the work of the ministry even if they can individually only reach 85% of what you can do.  3 people at 85% will get more done than you can by yourself at 100%.

What are you hanging onto that you need to hand to someone else?

What are you hesitant to pass to someone else because it's your baby?

What is causing you stress because it's a huge burden to make it happen by yourself?

Let's be honest.  Often we don't want to give stuff away because we are a perfectionist.

We don't want to share the spotlight with someone else.

Our identity is wrapped up in what we do in ministry.

When we are unwilling to hand off the ministry, we become the lid.

The reason your ministry is not growing may be due to the fact that you are trying to do it all yourself and refuse to hand off ministry pieces to others.

It's not about what you can do.  It's about what you can empower others to do.

What are you doing at 100% that others can do at 85%?

Time to hand it off.  The good news...when you hand it off it allows you to focus and concentrate on more important things that will help move the ministry forward.
