Initiative

Initiative [ih-nish-ee-uh-tiv] an introductory step or action; leading action
If you're going to be a leader...then you've got to have initiative.

Initiative is taken...not given. If someone else has to initiate it...then it's not initiative.

Initiative fixes things. It sees things that are broken and takes care of it.

Initiative that is effective is appropriate and timely. It has the wisdom to know when to step forward and when to wait.

Initiative is the seed that creativity sprouts from.

Initiative doesn't just bring a problem. It brings a problem and possible solutions to the problem.

Initiative walks to needs, not around them.

Initiative takes personal responsibility for spiritual and professional growth.

Initiative brings a pen and paper...ready to take notes.

Initiative builds a bridge to other departments....first.

Initiative over communicates.

Initiative looks for ways to make things better.

Initiative takes care of problems instead of hoping they will go away.

Initiative gives an apology instead of looking for one.

Initiative calls instead of waiting to be called.

Initiative is...

  • David stepping out to fight Goliath.
  • Elisha grabbing Elijah's mantle.
  • Peter stepping out of the boat to walk on the water.
  • Jacob wrestling with an angel until he gets his blessing.
  • The one leper coming back to thank Jesus.
  • Four men tearing a hole in the roof and lowering a man down to Jesus.
  • Isaiah saying "Here I am...send me."
  • The Good Samaritan going to a man dying in a ditch.
Want to make yourself more valuable? Initiative will make it happen.
