Why Less Leads to Success

Chipotle opened its first restaurant in 1993.  Since then, it's grown into a $22 billion dollar empire.

Why have they been so successful?  There are several factors, but a big one is the knowing that less leads to success.

Chipotle focuses on three things - burritos, tacos and salads.  That's it.  Founder and CEO Steve Ells says, "Focus on just a few things, and do them better than anybody else."

I believe the same model works in ministry.  Less leads to success.

Now that's not as easy as it sounds.  Simple is actually hard to do.  It's easier to do a lot of things poorly.

It's easier to be busy than it is productive...and there's a big difference.  You see, it's not how many hours you put in...it's what you put into the hours.  Overreaching leads to under performing.

Here's 3 steps to do less and have more success.

1. Decide what you are going to do well.  This list should be very, very short.

2. Focus on your essentials and eliminate the rest.

3. Learn to say "no."  Your list will grow, if you're not relentless about saying "no."   Don't let a lot of good things keep you from a great thing.  Being mediocre at a lot will make you excellent at nothing.
