As a children's ministry leader, your primary role should be equipping people for the work of the ministry.
This is made very clear in Ephesians 4. Here's what it says.
"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
Their responsibility is to EQUIP God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ."
As leaders in children's ministry, it's not about what you can do. It's about what you can equip others to do.
Remember this - good leaders are powerful - but great leaders are empowering. Good leaders are stars. Great leaders create stars.
Here is a simple tool you can use to measure how much you are doing vs. how much you are equipping. For 2 weeks, keep track of how much time you spend doing vs. equipping. At the end of the 2 weeks, see which category you spent the most time in.
Is the doing category more than the equipping category? Do you need to spend more time equipping? From this point, start taking steps to move yourself more in the equipping category.
