Try This to Get Lots of New Volunteers

Need more volunteers?  That's a silly question to ask. Of course you do.  I've never meet a church or ministry that didn't need more volunteers.

And Covid hasn't helped any, right?

But here's the good news. There are some proven formulas that will help you get more volunteers. I share many of these in my book The Formula for Building Great Volunteer Teams.  It's available at this link.

One step I talk about in the book is to use the strategy of "One Time = Full Time."

Here's how to do this.  When you have a big event coming like Easter, VBS, Camp, Fall Festival, Christmas, etc., do a church wide push to get people to sign up one time for the event.  Focus this ask on people who have never volunteered before.

Next, give them a great experience serving that one time.  Put them with your very best volunteers.  Feed them.  Send them a thank you note.

Next step is this - Contact each person who served one time for the event and ask them to join your team full-time.  Make this contact in no less than a week after they served.

Do this and you will be amazed at what will happen.  One Easter we did this and 85% of the people who served for Easter joined our team on a full-time basis.

One of the people I contacted after a fall festival joined our team on a full-time basis and eventually became a staff member and did great things for God in the ministry.

One time = Full time.  Try it with your next big event.  See what God will do.
