An Inside Look at a Great Children's Ministry in Canada

A few weeks ago, I was at Creekside Church in the Ontario, Canada area.

My friend, Carolyn Burge, is the children's ministry pastor there.  She has lead the Creekside Children's Ministry for the past 6 years.

They have an amazing children's ministry. Below are some pictures of their facilities.  You can see, they believe in the importance of children's ministry.

I asked Carolyn to share some tips and ideas from their ministry.  Her and her team are reaching kids and families and they are growing.

Here is some great insight from Carolyn about growing a thriving children's ministry by reaching unchurched families.

4 years ago, we opened the doors of our new kids' area which included rooms for kids ages 0 to 6th grade and an indoor playground.

Creeksdie Kids focuses on helping kids...

Follow Jesus

Love God

Love People.

Creekside is lead by Carolyn, 4 other kids ministry staff and over 300 volunteers.  They use the Gospel Project on Sundays during their 3 Sunday morning services.  Their indoor playground is open Monday - Thursday every week for families in teh community to enjoy.

Creekside Kids values each child.  New families receive a hand written card after they attend for their fist time on a Sunday.  Every year each child also receives a hand-made card for their birthday.

Their Special Friends ministry provides one-on-one volunteers for children who might need a buddy to help them have a great experience while they are at church.

Creekside values families as well.  They have special events throughout the year that focuses on families from Creekside and the community.  They intentionally strive towards creating an atmosphere where people can bring their friends to church.

They host a Gingerbread Party at the end of November, a Princess Party in the winter and a Lego party in the spring.  Each event flows with the same structure with activity centers, a bouncy castle and time to play in the playground.

Families can visit each of the activities and have fun together.  While the event is happening, video clips of Sunday mornings and upcoming events are playing on the screens in each room so people can get a glimpse of other opportunities that are available at Creekside.
